For the last program of 2014, we will gather in the historic Smith House where Dahlonega native Freida Bafile will present the story of Frank W. Hall, a mining engineer by trade and a visionary. Shortly after the end of the Civil War, Frank Hall arrived in Dahlonega from Winooski,Vermont, to help oversee the construction of some new mining operations. By 1890 he was one of the richest and most prominent men in Lumpkin County. Hall helped to construct many of the buildings that still survive around Dahlonega including The Smith House hotel, Hall’s Block, and the 1884 Lumpkin County Jail that serves as our museum.
We invite everyone to attend this fascinating look at one of Dahlonega’s movers and shakers of the late 19th century on Thursday, Nov 13, 7 p.m. at The Smith House located on 84 S Chestatee St, Dahlonega
At this meeting, members will be given the opportunity to vote on the ratification of the proposed revisions to our Constitution and By-Laws that were presented at the October meeting.
