Private Tour of Price Memorial Hall

The University of North Georgia Administration Building

Thursday, November 5th, 6 p.m.

Sorry, we cannot invite the public to join us on this tour. There is room only for Lumpkin County Historical Society members, their families, and guests.

Meet our tour guide at 6 p.m. in front of Price Memorial. There should be plenty of parking there at that time of day. The building is easy to spot. Its bell tower is gilded with Dahlonega gold.

Price Memorial is built on the foundation of the Dahlonega branch of the U.S. Mint, which was chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1835. In 1878 the old mint building burned, and the present building was built on its foundation. The interior was redone several times over the years, but when Dr. Sherman Day was president of the college, he had it refurbished, taking down lowered ceilings and added walls to expose the original architecture. The tour will include a look at the original foundation.
