Reflections on W.B. Townsend by Wayne Knuckels; March 8, 2012; 7 pm; The Community House

Post date: Feb 27, 2012 5:59:5 PM

Working from a small office, W.B. Townsend served as the first editor of The Dahlonega Nugget until his death in 1933. Quoted in newspapers across the country for his “tell it like it is” comments, Townsend’s newspaper still survives today as the longest running media source for Lumpkin County. Wayne Knuckles, the current editor of the Nugget, will reflect on Townsend's life from a recent book reissue titled “Observations from a Peak in Lumpkin County” about W. B. Townsend on Thursday March 8, 2012; 7PM at the Community House.

All profits from the sale of the book, which will be available for sale at the meeting, go to the Chestattee Regional Library System.

If your family has lived in Lumpkin County for several generations, don’t be suprised if W.B. Townsend wrote about them. Come and bring a friend!
