Post date: May 22, 2015 1:37:59 PM

We're all set to take a field trip on Saturday morning, June 6, instead of meeting for our regular June program. This trip will be for members and their guests only.

"The Cabin in the Laurel" is 11 miles from Dahlonega in the direction of Cleveland. It is a private museum consisting of a "collection of about 20 antique log buildings sited on several acres. The layout is an 1800 Appalachian homestead with grist mill, barn, cabin, whiskey still, syrup mill, blacksmith shop and several antique tool collections. A one room school-church is made of huge logs. All buildings are filled with period artifacts." No charge, but if we want to leave a donation, it will be given to the White County Food Pantry. Transportation around the grounds will be provided for the less able-bodied.

Pack a picnic lunch, and meet us there between 9:30-10:00 a.m. for a tour to begin around 10:00. Then we will gather on the grounds for a picnic lunch around noon.
