Chris Worick presents: Last Ones Standing - Lumpkin County’s surviving one room school buildings

Once Lumpkin County had over 31 small one room public schools scattered throughout the districts. Today, only a handful of these relics remain in various states of repair. Society President Chris Worick will present his findings in a power point slide show taken during his recent travels around the county to photograph these historic buildings before they are gone forever.

History of the one-room school houses, “Lumpkin County, Georgia Schools of Yesteryear ... 1840 – 1957” will be available for purchase at the meeting.

Thursday, October 9, 2014, at 7 p.m. Dahlonega Community House • 111 N. Park Street, Dahlonega, GA

Revised Constitution and By-Laws will be presented to the membership at this meeting. Vote by the members for/against acceptance of revisions will be at the November meeting.
