The Earliest Days of Radio by Jim Del Principe. Thurs., Mar. 14, 2019 @ 7pm
Post date: Mar 01, 2019 4:37:7 AM
We will start our program by honoring three 8th grade History student winners of our annual History Essay Contest.
Then Jim Del Principe will present a program on the very earliest days of radio and the people who contributed to this art and science, up to about 1940 when it was mature. He will bring a number of radios from about 1915 to 1940, many of them working, and a small transmitter to play music over them so we can actually hear how they sounded when they were new. He will also bring a “Spark Transmitter” from about 1915 so we can hear the earliest sounds of Morse code that was sent from ship to ship and ship to shore.
