Dahlonega’s Gold Rush Festival started as a simple idea 60 years ago: promote and share our history with visitors. Today the Festival, named one of the twenty best events in the southeast, attracts around 200,000 people to our area. Sallie Sorohan, author of, “Gold Rush Days in Dahlonega: The History of a Mountain Festival,” will tell how it all got started and evolved over the years to the mega event it is today and became the major fund raiser for the Dahlonega Jaycees.

Sallie, a former Gold Rush Queen, has invited all previous Gold Rush Kings and Queens to be special guests at the historical society meeting to share memories with her of this giant festival.
