Dr. M.F. Stephenson was one of the most sought-after authorities on the subject of gold and minerals in North Georgia during his lifetime. His achievements spanned more than five decades and covered a wide range of subjects. The author of three books and countless news articles, Dr. Stephenson is best known for his “There’s Millions In It” speech delivered from the Lumpkin County courthouse balcony in 1849.
